Air Ventures Paragliding School..

 

Now you can learn to paraglide right here in Port Elizabeth with AirVentures.

Training courses are started through out the year. We will start you off on a flat grassy field, getting to know the feeling of being strapped into a paraglider. Once the ground handling is completed we will progress to the sand dunes at Maitlands river mouth. Here you will experience low ground skimming flights. You will learn the take off and landing procedure. Each flight you will progress higher up the dune resulting in longer and higher flights. Once we (your instructor and yourself) are comfortable with your progress you will get to experience your first high flight. This will be from the top of the Maitlands hill, flying down and landing on the beach. As your confidence and experience grows you will be able to stay in the air for longer periods of time. The club members regularly fly from Maitlands to Van Stadens river mouth and back past Maitlands to the Sea View Hotel.

On completion of the license you will be a basic pilot and invited to join the Hawkwind Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club.

You will need to sign up with AirVentures for a training course. This course will include the following.

The course fee is R 3 000. This includes: glider, harness and radio hire for the duration of the course, lectures, training manual and exam fees.
